CM N. Chandrababu Naidu announced a phased roadmap to revive Amaravati as a world-class capital city, with construction restarting next quarter.

AMARAVATI: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday unveiled a ₹50,000-crore master plan to revive Amaravati as a world-class capital city, marking the strongest signal yet that the project — stalled for nearly five years — is back on track.
Speaking at a high-level review meeting in the Secretariat, the CM said construction on the Legislative Assembly, Secretariat and the residential quarters for MLAs and government employees would restart in the next quarter, with a hard deadline of December 2028 for the first phase.
The plan, prepared in consultation with global firms including Foster + Partners and Surbana Jurong, envisions Amaravati as India's first carbon-neutral capital, with 50% of the land mass reserved for greenery, water bodies and pedestrian-only zones.
