Chandrababu Naidu and J.P. Nadda launched 10 Critical Care Blocks and 12 Integrated Public Health Labs worth ₹249 crore across Andhra Pradesh.
Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh took a major step towards strengthening its healthcare infrastructure with the launch of 10 Critical Care Blocks and 12 Integrated Public Health Laboratories built at a total cost of ₹249 crore.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda formally inaugurated the facilities at a programme held in Vijayawada. The new infrastructure adds 500 critical care beds across the state and includes advanced operation theatres, ultrasound facilities and specialised services in cardiology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery.
Addressing the gathering, Chandrababu Naidu said the Sanjeevani programme would be a game-changer in healthcare and announced that citizens' health records would be digitised from January 1.
The Chief Minister also urged the Centre to accord national project status to Amaravati Quantum Bio Valley, which is being developed as a hub for emerging technologies. He said the country's first quantum computer would be launched in Amaravati and highlighted efforts to train youth in artificial intelligence.
Chandrababu credited the Centre's support for several developments in the healthcare sector, including the expansion of medical education, AIIMS Mangalagiri and Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
He also called for healthier lifestyles, urging people to adopt yoga, pranayama and meditation and to view nutritious food as an important part of preventive healthcare.
The Chief Minister said the Centre-State partnership would help build a “Healthy–Wealthy–Happy Andhra Pradesh” and reaffirmed the government's commitment to improving public services.
The event concluded on a lighter note when Chandrababu Naidu and J.P. Nadda took a selfie together on stage amid loud cheers from the audience.
