Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027 as part of the Housing for All programme, with a permanent home targeted for every eligible family by 2029.
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to implement the Housing for All programme on a saturation basis, with the government targeting a permanent house for every eligible family in the state by 2029.
At a review meeting with Housing Department officials at the Camp Office, the Chief Minister directed authorities to complete 5.52 lakh houses by March 2027 and accelerate construction under various central and state housing schemes.
Naidu instructed officials to ground all housing projects under schemes including Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and PM Janman by next month.
The Chief Minister directed officials to construct 1.5 lakh houses in urban areas and set specific deadlines for completing houses that are already under construction.
According to the directions, 2.05 lakh houses are to be completed by December 2026, followed by another 2.74 lakh houses by March 2027. The completed houses are to be made ready for housewarming ceremonies.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that 18.72 lakh houses had been sanctioned in Andhra Pradesh under PMAY 1.0, PMAY 2.0 and PM Janman, of which 13.20 lakh houses have been completed so far.
Under the Andhra Pradesh Housing Corporation, construction has been completed for 11.31 lakh houses out of 16.11 lakh sanctioned houses. Similarly, under AP TIDCO, 1.88 lakh houses out of 2.61 lakh sanctioned houses have been completed, officials said.
Naidu directed officials to ensure the sanction of 75,000 new houses by December 2027 and bring another 1.5 lakh houses into the housing pipeline.
He asked officials to coordinate with the Union Ministries of Rural Development and Housing and Urban Affairs to secure the required allocations and ensure that housing targets are achieved within the stipulated timelines.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to accurately assess the demand among families who do not have house sites.
He called for integration of data from RTGS, Awaas Plus, Housing and Revenue departments to eliminate duplication and ensure that only eligible beneficiaries are identified.
Officials were instructed to publish preliminary beneficiary lists at Village and Ward Secretariat levels, invite objections from the public and resolve them transparently before finalising the lists.
Naidu directed officials to reorganise unutilised land in existing layouts into 2- or 3-cent plots, depending on local requirements.
He also called for vacant sites to be identified and mapped to eligible beneficiaries, followed by continuous monitoring until construction is completed.
The Chief Minister specifically directed officials to implement housing construction in the Kuppam Assembly constituency on a saturation basis.
Reiterating the government’s objective, Naidu said every eligible family in Andhra Pradesh should have access to a safe and permanent home by 2029 and called for coordination among all departments to achieve the Housing for All target.
The Chief Minister also directed the Housing Department to explore the development of industrial townships at various locations across Andhra Pradesh with support from the Central Government.
He said industrial townships in and around major industrial areas could generate greater economic activity, increase transactions and create additional opportunities for growth.
Naidu cited industrial locations such as Sri City as potential areas for developing such townships and instructed officials to coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC).
The government is seeking to link housing infrastructure with industrial development, with the proposed townships expected to support workers and contribute to economic activity in industrial regions.
