TDP will launch ‘Yuvatha Bhavishyakku Bharosa’ across Andhra Pradesh from September 16 to highlight jobs, education, IT and youth development initiatives.
Mangalagiri: The NDA coalition government in Andhra Pradesh will launch a statewide outreach programme titled ‘Yuvatha Bhavishyakku Bharosa’ from September 16 to explain its employment, education and development initiatives to young people, TDP Legislative Council Chief Whip Panchumarthi Anuradha said on Tuesday.
Addressing the media at the TDP central office, NTR Bhavan, in Mangalagiri, Anuradha said MLAs, MLCs, MPs and Ministers would visit universities, colleges and coaching centres to interact with students and youth and explain the government’s initiatives.
Anuradha said the coalition government was working towards its target of creating 20 lakh jobs under the leadership of Education and IT Minister Nara Lokesh.
She claimed that around 7,28,357 jobs had already been grounded through various sectors and initiatives, including Mega DSC recruitment, police constable recruitment, MSMEs, skill development, food processing, IT and electronics, and tourism.
The outreach programme would also explain the government’s approach to recruitment and employment generation, she said.
Anuradha said the government would highlight what she described as the transparent manner in which the Mega DSC recruitment process was conducted.
She also criticised the previous YSRCP government over alleged irregularities in recruitment through the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).
Referring to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) inquiry into the APPSC recruitment controversy, Anuradha alleged that serious irregularities had emerged. She claimed that an alleged scam involving more than Rs.150 crore had come to light and alleged that examination papers kept in a government strong room were taken to private resorts for evaluation.
She further alleged that people from various professions were involved in the evaluation process. The matter is also before the High Court, she said, and challenged former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy to explain the allegations before criticising the present government’s recruitment policies.
Anuradha questioned Jagan's record on employment during the previous five-year government. Referring to the Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS), she claimed that Andhra Pradesh had a poor unemployment position during the period.
She also cited National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, claiming that around 4,100 unemployed people died by suicide during Jagan’s tenure.
Anuradha challenged Jagan and other YSRCP leaders to explain what steps were taken during their tenure to attract industries and create employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
The TDP leader also alleged that several major investment proposals and companies moved away from Andhra Pradesh during the previous government.
She cited investment proposals involving the Adani Group worth Rs.70,000 crore, AAIIB worth Rs.1,400 crore, the World Bank worth Rs.2,400 crore, Asia Pulp & Paper worth Rs.2,400 crore and Lulu Group worth Rs.2,200 crore.
She also alleged that companies including Franklin Templeton, HCL, B.R. Shetty & Sons, Kia’s 17 ancillary companies and Amara Raja Batteries were forced to leave the state.
These claims were made by Anuradha as part of her criticism of the previous government’s employment and investment record.
Anuradha accused Jagan of targeting Nara Lokesh politically because of his leadership and focus on employment generation.
She said Lokesh was working extensively on education, the IT sector and the government’s 20 lakh jobs target, and alleged that the opposition was unable to accept his growing credibility among young people.
She also accused the previous government of failing to create a favourable environment for employment and alleged that youth were increasingly exposed to drug abuse and criminal activities.
Taking aim at Jagan’s repeated references to various allegations against the coalition government, Anuradha asked him to first answer questions concerning his own political and legal record.
She referred to the cases against him, his period in prison, attachment of assets and alleged quid pro quo cases. She also raised questions concerning the murder of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, including the issue of a CBI inquiry.
Anuradha further referred to disputes involving Jagan’s family and alleged that the issues had resulted in prolonged legal and political battles.
She said Jagan should respond to these issues before criticising the coalition government’s recruitment policies.
Anuradha said the ‘Yuvatha Bhavishyakku Bharosa’ programme would provide an opportunity for the government and its representatives to directly engage with students and young people across the state.
The programme will focus on employment generation, recruitment, education, IT, investments and skill development initiatives, she said.
Anuradha concluded that criticism of the Mega DSC and Nara Lokesh’s employment initiatives was politically motivated and reiterated that the coalition government would continue working towards its goal of creating employment opportunities for the youth.
