TDP spokesperson Appasani Rajesh demanded that former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy respond to allegations surrounding the APPSC Group-I recruitment process.
Mangalagiri: TDP spokesperson Appasani Rajesh has demanded that YSRCP president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy respond to questions surrounding alleged irregularities in the APPSC Group-I recruitment process during the previous government.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri, Rajesh alleged that the YSRCP leadership was repeatedly raising questions over the 2025 DSC recruitment while not responding to issues concerning the APPSC Group-I examination conducted during its tenure.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into alleged irregularities in the evaluation of APPSC Group-I Mains answer scripts. The court directed that the probe examine, among other issues, the safety and possible tampering of answer scripts, OMR sheets and barcodes, with assistance from scientific and forensic experts.
Rajesh said allegations concerning the 2025 DSC recruitment had changed over time. He claimed that YSRCP leaders initially alleged a question paper leak and later raised issues relating to caste, corruption and alleged financial transactions.
He said the government had explained the recruitment procedure and that Education Minister Nara Lokesh had challenged Jagan and YSRCP leaders to participate in a fact-based discussion.
The government has maintained that the Mega DSC-2025 recruitment was conducted transparently. School Education officials said the process was conducted through computer-based tests with multiple safeguards, while the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh said sports certificates submitted under the sports quota were verified with the respective issuing authorities.
Rajesh referred to the High Court proceedings concerning the 2018 APPSC Group-I recruitment notification.
The High Court's February 11, 2026 directions required the SIT to examine whether selected candidates' answer scripts had been tampered with, whether the relevant barcodes and OMR sheets matched, and to examine answer scripts of non-selected candidates and candidates ranked immediately below the final selected candidate.
The court proceedings also recorded concerns regarding the handling and evaluation of the answer scripts. The court noted that original answer scripts had been kept at a private resort and directed a detailed investigation with scientific and forensic assistance.
The state subsequently constituted an SIT headed by AP CID chief Ravi Shankar Ayyannar to investigate the matter.
In August 2026, the SIT submitted its report to the High Court, with reports stating that it had identified procedural violations in the evaluation of the Group-I Mains answer scripts.
Rajesh also referred to the investigation involving former APPSC Secretary P. Sitaramanjaneyulu. Court records state that a case was registered in 2025 in connection with allegations relating to APPSC affairs and that Sitaramanjaneyulu was arrested during the investigation and later granted bail. The allegations remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
Responding to allegations surrounding the sports quota component of DSC-2025, Rajesh cited the government's explanation regarding 382 appointments.
According to government officials, the sports quota selection involved verification of candidates' sports certificates through relevant associations, universities and official records. The government has rejected allegations of irregularities in the process.
The original Sports Authority notification had invited applications for 421 teacher posts under the three per cent quota for meritorious sportspersons.
Rajesh also questioned the previous government's record on teacher recruitment, recalling the YSRCP's pre-election promises regarding government jobs and a Mega DSC.
He alleged that the previous government did not conduct a DSC recruitment process during its five-year tenure and contrasted it with the current government's recruitment programme.
He further cited the number of DSC recruitment exercises conducted under different previous governments and claimed that the present government had completed the latest recruitment process within a time-bound schedule.
Rajesh demanded that Jagan, YSRCP leaders and the party's media and social-media platforms respond to the findings emerging from the APPSC investigation.
“YSRCP has failed to identify even one specific irregularity in the DSC recruitment despite repeatedly making allegations. But questions regarding the APPSC Group-I process during its tenure are now before the High Court and under forensic investigation,” Rajesh said.
He demanded that Jagan respond to questions raised over the APPSC Group-I recruitment process and explain the allegations concerning the previous government's tenure.
