Chandrababu Naidu calls for TDP, Jana Sena and BJP coordination ahead of AP local body elections and says over 34% of seats will be allocated to BCs.

Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N. Chandrababu Naidu has called for coordinated efforts among alliance partners and party workers to prepare for the upcoming local body elections. He said the TDP-led alliance would allocate more than 34% of seats to Backward Classes (BCs).
Addressing MPs, MLAs, party leaders, booth committee members and grassroots workers through a teleconference, Mr. Naidu stressed the need for careful candidate selection, coordination among alliance partners and a smooth nomination process.
He said the alliance should approach the elections with a clear strategy and highlighted the need to explain the government's welfare and development initiatives to voters.
The Chief Minister urged party leaders to prioritise candidates with a strong chance of winning and cautioned against allowing personal differences or individual preferences to affect the selection process.
He asked MLAs to consider the concerns and expectations of party workers while planning political and organisational activities. He also said the party leadership was continuing consultations with workers during his constituency visits and had reviewed organisational matters with representatives from 59 constituencies.
Mr. Naidu called on party workers to maintain the commitment demonstrated during the 2024 elections and work with greater coordination in the upcoming local body polls.
He said the government was fulfilling its election promises and that the alliance should seek public support by explaining its work.
Emphasising cooperation among alliance partners, Mr. Naidu said the TDP, Jana Sena Party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should work together during the election process.
He directed party leaders to establish coordination committees with Jana Sena and BJP representatives at constituency and district levels. The committees, he said, should help resolve differences and facilitate cooperation during candidate selection and nominations.
The Chief Minister also alleged that the YSR Congress Party had approached the court in an attempt to delay the local body elections. He said the hurdles had been addressed and the election process was proceeding in accordance with court directions.
Mr. Naidu said Backward Classes continued to be an important constituency for the TDP and announced that the alliance would allocate more than 34% of seats to BC candidates in the local body elections.
He asked party leaders to prepare voter lists carefully and ensure that errors did not occur during the nomination process. He also stressed the importance of making voter lists accessible at the grassroots level, including across all clusters.
Party leaders and workers were instructed to undertake door-to-door outreach to explain the government's development and welfare programmes to the public.
The Chief Minister said governance and party organisational activities were receiving attention in parallel. He urged leaders to maintain discipline in candidate selection, address the concerns of party workers and ensure coordination across the alliance.
He called for collective efforts by MPs, MLAs, local leaders and grassroots workers to strengthen the alliance's campaign ahead of the local body elections.
The schedule and other details of the elections were not specified in the supplied press release.
