YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked YSRCP leaders to field strong candidates in every local body seat and intensify grassroots outreach ahead of the elections.
Tadepalli: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has called on party leaders and cadre to intensify preparations for the upcoming local body elections, urging them to field strong candidates and ensure contests across all seats.
Addressing party leaders at Tadepalli on Tuesday, Jagan said the YSRCP should seek to convert what he described as public dissatisfaction with the coalition government into electoral support.
He alleged that the coalition government had failed on several fronts during its two years in office and expressed confidence that the YSRCP could perform strongly if the local body elections were conducted freely and fairly.
Jagan instructed party leaders to ensure that YSRCP candidates are available for every local body seat and said the party would not accept situations where elections are decided unanimously without a contest.
He asked MLA aspirants and constituency-level leaders to work towards identifying strong candidates and mobilising party workers at the grassroots level.
The YSRCP president also called for an intensive door-to-door campaign, asking leaders to visit every household and explain the party's political position and its criticism of the coalition government.
As part of the election preparations, Jagan said identity cards featuring QR codes would be distributed to party workers up to the village level. Election and campaign material would also be provided to the cadre.
He directed party leaders to organise meetings at the district, Assembly constituency, mandal and division levels to strengthen coordination ahead of the elections.
Jagan asked the party's legal cell to remain active in responding to what he described as harassment and coercive action against party workers.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening the party's media and social media operations to communicate YSRCP's political messaging and highlight its criticism of government policies.
Party workers would also be trained in the use of the Jagan 2.0 app, he said, asking leaders who were not active on social media to become familiar with digital platforms.
Jagan urged party leaders to avoid internal differences and work as a single unit. He asked leaders to remain in their respective constituencies during the next few months and focus on organisational activities.
He also warned that police personnel who, according to him, exceeded their authority could face consequences in the future, saying their actions would be documented digitally.
Party coordinators, in-charges of all 175 Assembly constituencies and other senior leaders attended the meeting.
