Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy accused the YSRCP of spreading misinformation about the Mega DSC recruitment and said 16,347 teacher posts were filled within 148 days.
Mangalagiri: Kovur MLA Vemireddy Prashanthi Reddy on Tuesday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading misinformation about the recently completed Mega DSC recruitment and said the opposition party had no basis to question the recruitment process.
Addressing the media at the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) Central Office in Mangalagiri, Ms. Prashanthi Reddy said the previous YSRCP government had failed to issue a DSC notification during its five-year tenure and alleged that it had also failed to generate adequate employment opportunities for the State's youth.
She said the NDA coalition government had moved quickly on its election commitments, with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's first signature reportedly being on the Mega DSC file.
Ms. Prashanthi Reddy said the government completed the recruitment process within 148 days, resulting in the appointment of 16,347 teachers.
She said she had visited the homes of successful candidates in her Kovur constituency and witnessed the efforts made by aspirants who had spent years preparing for competitive examinations.
Many candidates, she said, had stayed away from their families while preparing for the recruitment and worked long hours to secure government employment.
The MLA credited Mr. Chandrababu Naidu and Education Minister Nara Lokesh with completing the recruitment process and said attempts to raise doubts over the appointments using documents originating from private institutions were unwarranted.
Ms. Prashanthi Reddy also criticised the YSRCP over its broader political campaign against the coalition government.
She said development activity was visible across the State and pointed to the government's efforts to improve rural roads and revive stalled projects.
Referring to her Kovur constituency, she said the Kisan SEZ, which had remained inactive for several years, was now being revived with the support of the State government and was expected to create employment opportunities locally.
She also referred to Mr. Chandrababu Naidu's earlier Vision 2020 programme, which she said contributed to the growth of the information technology sector, and his present Vision 2047, which she said seeks to promote entrepreneurship.
Responding to the YSRCP's references to Gen-Z, Ms. Prashanthi Reddy said young people were concerned not only about employment but also about broader social and economic development.
She said the aspirations of young people included better roads, infrastructure and improved living conditions.
Ms. Prashanthi Reddy contrasted the treatment of teachers under the previous and present governments.
She alleged that teachers had earlier been assigned duties such as guarding liquor shops. Under the present administration, she said, teachers were being provided opportunities for international training, including programmes in Singapore aimed at improving teaching methodologies.
She said the government's focus on teacher recruitment and training reflected its emphasis on strengthening the education sector.
The MLA maintained that the criticism of the Mega DSC was politically motivated and said people would not be influenced by what she described as unverified claims about the recruitment process.
