All Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks will remain open on Sunday, September 27, to help customers access essential banking services ahead of the proposed nationwide bank strike.

New Delhi: All Public Sector Banks (PSBs) and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) will remain open on Sunday, September 27, to facilitate banking services for customers, the Ministry of Finance said.
The decision comes ahead of a proposed three-day nationwide bank strike from September 28 to 30 called by the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU).
According to the Finance Ministry, the strike dates coincide with the preceding weekend holidays on September 26 and 27. Keeping bank branches operational on September 27 is intended to ensure that customers have access to essential banking services before the proposed strike.
The Ministry said the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has approved the opening of all bank branches, offices, ATM-linked branches and Currency Chests on Sunday.
These establishments will remain fully operational on September 27, allowing customers to undertake banking transactions and access necessary services.
The move is aimed at reducing inconvenience to the public in the event of disruption to banking operations during the proposed strike period.
The Finance Ministry said the government and bank managements have appealed to the bank unions to defer the proposed strike.
At the same time, measures have been taken to ensure that essential banking services continue without interruption, the ministry said.
The proposed strike has been called by the UFBU, an umbrella platform representing bank unions, for September 28 to 30.
Customers have been advised to take note of the special Sunday opening of Public Sector Banks and Regional Rural Banks on September 27 and plan their banking requirements accordingly.
The decision is expected to provide customers with an additional banking day immediately before the proposed strike and the associated weekend holidays.
