Rear Admiral C. Raghuram, VSM (Retd.), has assumed charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Hindustan Shipyard Limited, bringing over 35 years of naval leadership and engineering experience.

Visakhapatnam: Rear Admiral Chandrasekharan Raghuram, VSM (Retd.), on Thursday assumed charge as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Visakhapatnam.
Commissioned into the Indian Navy on November 10, 1989, Rear Admiral Raghuram served with distinction for more than three and a half decades, gaining extensive experience in naval engineering, ship maintenance, strategic planning and leadership across several operational and command assignments. In recognition of his distinguished service, he was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in 2017.
An alumnus of the Naval College of Engineering, Lonavala, Cranfield University in the United Kingdom, the Naval War College and the National Defence College, Rear Admiral Raghuram has built an accomplished career spanning afloat operations, equipment life cycle support, research and development, warship design, combat system integration and instructional assignments.
During his naval career, he served onboard frontline warships INS Gomati and INS Trishul, including as a member of the commissioning crew of INS Trishul. His assignments at the Naval Dockyard, the Afloat Support Team for Talwar Class Ships, and the Weapons and Electronics Systems Engineering Establishment (WESEE) enabled him to develop significant expertise in life cycle support and combat systems integration.
Rear Admiral Raghuram has held several key appointments, including Commanding Officer of INS Valsura, Principal Director (Electrical Engineering) at the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Navy), Command Electrical Officer at the Headquarters of the Eastern Naval Command, and Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the Headquarters of the Western Naval Command. He also served in senior leadership positions at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, and Naval Headquarters.
Before assuming charge at HSL, he was serving as the Assistant Chief of Materiel, overseeing the maintenance and operational readiness of key Indian Naval platforms.
As the new CMD of Hindustan Shipyard Limited, Rear Admiral Raghuram will lead the defence shipyard in strengthening its role as one of India's strategic shipbuilding and ship repair facilities. He is expected to focus on enhancing indigenous defence manufacturing capabilities and supporting the Government of India's vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the maritime defence sector.
