Minister S. Savitha criticised the YSRCP over allegations of political violence and highlighted the NDA government's focus on welfare, infrastructure, investment, employment and social empowerment.
Mangalagiri: Andhra Pradesh Minister for BC and EWS Welfare, Handlooms and Textiles S. Savitha on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), alleging that the opposition party had lost its political character and was increasingly associated with criminal activity and violence.
Addressing the media at the TDP Central Office, NTR Bhavan, the Minister contrasted the YSRCP's record with the NDA coalition government's two-year administration, saying the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, with the cooperation of Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, had prioritised welfare, development and law and order.
She said the state was moving ahead with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing progress in industries, airports, ports, road connectivity, Amaravati and the Polavaram Project.
Savitha said voters had already rejected the YSRCP's previous term, which she described as being marked by destruction, corruption and violence. However, she alleged that the party's political approach had not changed despite its defeat.
The Minister claimed that ordinary people and even YSRCP workers had suffered because of what she described as the party's politics of confrontation.
Referring to a series of incidents, she cited the deaths of Gaddam Muneswara Rao in Devarapalli, Singaiah in Palnadu, Madhu, Bhargav in Ibrahimpatnam, Dastagiri in Kadapa, Chennareddy in Macherla and Danayya Yadav in Palasa, alleging that each case reflected the consequences of political mobilisation and violence.
These allegations are political claims made by the Minister, and the circumstances surrounding the individual incidents would need to be assessed independently through official investigations and court proceedings.
Savitha particularly criticised YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over his response to the death of Danayya Yadav, whom she described as a poor BC sheep herder from Srikakulam district.
She alleged that Jagan chose to meet the accused rather than visit the bereaved family. She also criticised his reported comments concerning the victim's age and the alleged accused.
The Minister said political leaders should stand with victims and their families in such circumstances rather than extend support to individuals facing allegations.
Savitha also referred to the murder of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, citing statements made publicly by his daughter Y.S. Sunitha regarding the case.
She questioned Jagan Mohan Reddy's political credibility while making references to his family relationships and disputes.
Turning to the NDA government's agenda, Savitha said the TDP had historically supported BC, SC, ST and minority communities since the days of party founder N.T. Rama Rao.
She said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and Nara Lokesh were working to create opportunities for members of these communities to become entrepreneurs and achieve economic independence.
The Minister cited the Mega DSC recruitment drive as an example of the government's commitment to transparent employment opportunities, saying the recruitment process was conducted without discrimination.
Savitha also accused the YSRCP of obstructing investments and adversely affecting employment opportunities for young people.
She said the NDA government was instead focused on attracting industries, expanding infrastructure and creating employment opportunities for the next generation.
Concluding her remarks, the Minister urged voters to reject what she described as the YSRCP's "criminal culture" and support the NDA government's development-oriented agenda.
