AP Biodiversity Board Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar accused the YSRCP of spreading misinformation on investments and defended the State government's handling of Ecoren Energy proposals.

Mangalagiri: Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board Chairman Neelayapalem Vijay Kumar on Monday accused the YSRCP and its newspaper Sakshi of attempting to undermine Andhra Pradesh's investment climate by spreading what he described as misleading information about industrial investments and renewable energy projects.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri, Vijay Kumar alleged that the opposition was deliberately creating uncertainty among prospective investors by citing outdated "Ease of Doing Business" rankings, despite the Centre having adopted a "Speed of Doing Business" assessment framework.
Responding to allegations surrounding Ecoren Energy, Vijay Kumar said the company is a legally registered corporate entity and rejected claims that it was a shell company. He asserted that the legal issues involving an individual associated with the company should not be linked to the State government's industrial policy.
He also denied allegations that the Coalition Government had allotted renewable energy projects worth Rs. 76,250 crore to Ecoren Energy. According to Vijay Kumar, while the company had submitted investment proposals during the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam, no fresh project approvals or additional capacities had been granted to it after the summit.
He said certain project capacities were transferred to other financially sound companies only at the request of Ecoren Energy and in accordance with the Andhra Pradesh Integrated Clean Energy Policy, 2024.
Rejecting reports that the present government had allotted 261 acres of land to the company, Vijay Kumar said no land had been allotted during the tenure of the Coalition Government. He clarified that only preliminary compensation proceedings were underway wherever applicable and that land allotment could take place only after all statutory approvals.
Vijay Kumar further alleged that it was the previous YSRCP government that had issued several Government Orders (GOs) in favour of Ecoren Energy between 2023 and early 2024 for renewable energy projects, land proposals and additional capacities in Kurnool, Nandyal, Anantapur and Kadapa districts. He questioned why the opposition was criticising decisions that were initiated during its own tenure.
He also alleged that the YSRCP had attempted to stall investment proposals by filing court cases and creating uncertainty around industrial projects. Despite this, he claimed that Andhra Pradesh continues to attract investments from major renewable energy companies, including ReNew, NTPC, Tata Power, Brookfield, Adani, JSW and Megha Engineering, due to the Coalition Government's investor-friendly policies.
Responding to questions about the GST case involving the Managing Director of Ecoren Energy, Vijay Kumar said the matter relates to proceedings initiated by Central GST authorities against an individual and should not be linked to the State government's investment policy.
He said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had directed that all investors must comply with project milestones, financial commitments and statutory obligations. He added that the government would take action, including resuming government land wherever necessary, if any company failed to meet its commitments.
Vijay Kumar appealed to the public not to be influenced by what he described as fabricated reports intended to damage Andhra Pradesh's image among investors. He said the Coalition Government remained committed to transparent governance, industrial growth and creating a globally competitive investment ecosystem.
The YSRCP has not publicly responded to the specific allegations made by Vijay Kumar in this press conference.
