YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy directed regional coordinators to identify candidates early, strengthen grassroots units and ensure organisational unity ahead of the local-body elections.
Tadepalli: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the party's regional coordinators to accelerate preparations for the upcoming local-body elections, identify potential candidates at an early stage and strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level.
Jagan held a meeting with the party's regional coordinators at Tadepalli and reviewed the YSRCP's organisational preparedness for the elections.
He asked leaders to begin the candidate-selection process immediately and identify candidates who are considered strong, credible and capable of representing the party.
Jagan said decisions taken during candidate selection should also strengthen the organisation for future elections.
Regional coordinators were asked to consult leaders at different levels, gather the views of party members and conduct multiple rounds of discussions before finalising candidates.
He stressed the need to bring the entire party organisation together and ensure that local leadership and cadres work in coordination.
The regional coordinators were also instructed to continuously monitor local units, identify organisational weaknesses and encourage leaders and cadres to work collectively.
Jagan directed party leaders to take the YSRCP's political and governance narrative directly to voters.
According to the party, leaders should explain the differences between the previous YSRCP administration and the present government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
He asked party workers to visit households and explain welfare and governance initiatives implemented during the YSRCP government's tenure.
Jagan also directed leaders to raise issues that the party believes reflect shortcomings in the present administration and communicate them to voters at the local level.
Jagan cautioned party leaders to prepare for challenges that could arise during the local-body election process.
He alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu-led government could use police power and other means to influence the electoral process. Based on that assessment, he asked party leaders to prepare alternatives and contingency plans at different organisational levels.
The YSRCP president directed regional coordinators to closely supervise local units, resolve internal differences through consultations and strengthen booth-level and grassroots leadership.
He also emphasised maintaining organisational unity throughout the election process.
Senior YSRCP leaders and regional coordinators Botsa Satyanarayana, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Y.V. Subba Reddy, Ayodhya Rami Reddy, P.V. Midhun Reddy, Kurasala Kannababu, Gudivada Amarnath and Budi Mutyala Naidu attended the meeting.
The meeting comes as the YSRCP begins preparations for the next round of local political contests, with the party focusing on candidate selection, organisational coordination and strengthening its presence at the grassroots level.
