CM Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will launch construction of 3 lakh houses in AP, including a 3D concrete printing pilot project.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh government is set to take another major step towards providing permanent housing to the poor, with foundation stones to be laid for 3 lakh houses sanctioned to the State under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will jointly perform the foundation-laying ceremony at Burripalem village in Tenali Assembly constituency on Sunday.
According to the State government, the construction process for the newly sanctioned houses will be expedited to ensure that more beneficiaries receive permanent homes.
The government said 5.50 lakh houses have been provided to beneficiaries since the coalition government came to power.
Mass housewarming ceremonies were conducted in two phases. The first phase covered 3 lakh houses in November last year, followed by another 2.50 lakh houses in March this year, the government said.
Construction is also underway on another 4.20 lakh houses, which the government aims to complete and hand over to beneficiaries by next March.
The State government had also held discussions with the Centre seeking additional houses under PMAY-G 2.0. As part of these efforts, the Centre recently sanctioned 3 lakh houses to Andhra Pradesh, according to the government.
In another significant initiative, Andhra Pradesh is set to introduce 3D concrete printing technology in house construction through a pilot project.
The project is being taken up jointly by the Union Ministry of Rural Development, CSIR-CBRI Roorkee and the Andhra Pradesh government.
The government said the pilot project is being introduced for the first time in the country. Under the initiative, 177 houses will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 14 crore in Burripalem and Obulanayudupalem villages of Tenali constituency.
The technology is expected to reduce construction time, labour requirements and construction waste while improving quality and structural durability, according to the government.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will leave the camp office at 10.15 am on Sunday and reach Burripalem at 10.35 am.
He will lay the foundation stone for the 3D-printed houses at 10.40 am, followed by an interaction with housing beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister will later address a public meeting before concluding his Tenali visit. He is scheduled to return to the Undavalli camp office at 1.35 pm.
The State government expects the pilot project to demonstrate the potential of 3D concrete printing for faster and more efficient housing construction and could pave the way for wider adoption of the technology in future housing projects.
