Andhra Pradesh gets 3 lakh PMAY-G 2.0 houses worth ₹3,600 crore as Shivraj Singh Chouhan launches India’s first 3D concrete-printed housing pilot in Guntur.

Guntur: Andhra Pradesh has received a major boost to its rural housing programme with the Centre handing over the first instalment for 3 lakh houses worth ₹3,600 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) 2.0.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan handed over the first instalment at an event held at Burripalem village in Guntur district on Sunday in the presence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The programme also marked the launch of the foundation work for what the Centre described as the country’s first pilot housing project using 3D concrete printing technology. The project will cover 177 houses in Burripalem and Obulnayudupalem at an estimated cost of around ₹14 crore.
Chouhan said the initial housing allocation indicated for Andhra Pradesh was around 76,000 houses. Following a request from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for a larger allocation, the Centre increased the number to 3 lakh, he said.
The Union Minister also said Naidu had sought another 6 lakh houses for the State. Chouhan assured the Chief Minister of continued Central support and said further allocations would be considered after completion of the current phase.
The announcement is expected to give further momentum to the State’s efforts to provide permanent houses to eligible rural families.
The Burripalem project is intended to demonstrate the use of advanced construction technology in rural housing.
According to the Centre, 3D concrete printing can help reduce construction time, labour requirements and costs while delivering durable structures. The pilot project is expected to be completed within six months, as stated by Chouhan at the event.
However, project documents reported earlier indicate a broader implementation period for the pilot, which includes technical development and construction activities. The initiative is intended to generate technical protocols and structural benchmarks that could support wider adoption of 3D-printed rural housing.
Chouhan also referred to the Centre’s support for major infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh.
He highlighted the financial assistance announced for Amaravati and the progress of the Polavaram irrigation project, describing the latter as a key project for the State’s development.
The Union Minister also spoke about improving connectivity and infrastructure as part of the broader development agenda for Andhra Pradesh.
The Union Minister highlighted various Central and State welfare initiatives aimed at improving rural livelihoods.
He said farmers in Andhra Pradesh receive ₹6,000 annually under PM-KISAN, while the State’s Annadata Sukhibhava scheme provides another ₹14,000, taking the combined annual assistance to ₹20,000, according to the figures cited at the event.
Chouhan also highlighted the role of women’s self-help groups, stating that 23 lakh women in Andhra Pradesh had become Lakhpati Didis. He said the target was to increase the number to 60 lakh.
He further announced that the Saras Mela would be organised in Andhra Pradesh on October 15, with President Droupadi Murmu scheduled to inaugurate the event, according to the Union Minister.
Addressing the gathering, Chouhan praised Andhra Pradesh’s heritage and Telugu culture. He also highlighted the State’s potential in sectors such as agriculture, technology and infrastructure.
He described Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as a leader with a strong focus on technology-driven development and referred to the vision for Amaravati as a centre for emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, quantum technology, data centres and advanced manufacturing.
Chouhan also recalled the connection of Union Minister of State Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani with Burripalem and praised his association with rural development.
Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu thanked the Union government for increasing Andhra Pradesh’s housing allocation.
Naidu said the State needed a total of 9 lakh houses to meet its housing requirements and sought continued Central support for the remaining six lakh houses.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that cooperation between the Centre and the State would help accelerate development in housing, agriculture, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
The event was attended by Union Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Andhra Pradesh Ministers Nadendla Manohar, Kolusu Parthasarathy and Kandula Durgesh, BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav, MPs, MLCs, senior Central and State government officials, farmers, rural residents and women.
The launch of the 3D housing pilot marks a new experiment in applying advanced construction technology to rural housing, while the 3 lakh PMAY-G allocation provides a significant expansion of Andhra Pradesh’s housing programme.
