The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy will host the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on June 15, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and experts to discuss strategies for accelerating India's wind energy capacity and strengthening its position as a global manufacturing hub.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) will host the Global Wind Day 2026 Conference in Goa on June 15, under the theme "Wind Energy: From Ambition to Acceleration", bringing together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, developers, and experts to shape the future of India's wind energy sector.
The conference will be led by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy and Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Pralhad Joshi. Senior officials from MNRE, the Central Electricity Authority, Solar Energy Corporation of India, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency, the National Institute of Wind Energy, Grid India, state governments, and leading industry associations will participate in the event.
India has emerged as the world's fourth-largest wind power market, with ambitious targets of achieving 100 GW of wind energy capacity by 2030 and 155 GW by 2035. Wind energy remains a crucial pillar in India's broader goal of installing 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based power capacity and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070.
Speaking ahead of the conference, Joshi highlighted the sector's strong momentum, noting that India added a record 6.1 GW of wind power capacity during 2025-26. He emphasized that while policy support and industry collaboration have driven significant progress, the next phase requires faster execution and deployment. He also underscored the growing opportunities for India to emerge as a global export hub for wind energy equipment and technology.
MNRE Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi will also participate in the conference. Discussions will focus on critical areas including grid readiness, resource adequacy, manufacturing competitiveness, forecasting technologies, renewable energy integration, and export opportunities.
Several industry reports and knowledge papers will be unveiled during the event, including "Elevating India's Wind Turbine Exports for Global Markets," which explores strategies to strengthen India's position as a leading global manufacturing and export destination for wind turbines.
The conference is expected to serve as a key platform for developing actionable strategies to accelerate wind energy deployment and support India's long-term clean energy transition.
