Sudan Passenger with Ebola History Detected at Hyderabad Airport

Health authorities at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, detected a foreign passenger with a reported history related to the Ebola virus during routine screening procedures on Thursday.
According to officials, the passenger, identified as Mohammad, had arrived from Sudan, a country that has previously reported outbreaks of Ebola and other viral hemorrhagic fevers. Airport health surveillance teams flagged the traveler through the screening and monitoring system installed at the international terminal.
Following preliminary assessment, officials found that the passenger exhibited symptoms consistent with those associated with Ebola infection. As a precautionary measure, he was immediately isolated and shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad for further medical evaluation, testing, and observation.
Health authorities stated that all necessary protocols for handling suspected cases of highly infectious diseases were promptly activated. Medical teams at Gandhi Hospital are conducting detailed examinations, while samples are expected to be sent for laboratory testing to confirm or rule out the presence of the Ebola virus.
Officials emphasized that surveillance measures at international airports remain robust and that passengers arriving from high-risk regions are being closely monitored. Contact tracing and other precautionary measures will be undertaken if required, based on the outcome of medical investigations.
Further details are awaited from health authorities regarding the passenger's condition and test results.
