YSRCP leaders Ambati Rambabu and Noori Fathima alleged that the Andhra Pradesh government attempted to suppress the Guntur assault case and demanded strict action against those responsible.

Tadepalli: Former Minister Ambati Rambabu and YSRCP Guntur East In-charge Noori Fathima on Saturday accused the TDP-led coalition government of attempting to suppress the alleged assault on a woman in Guntur, claiming the incident reflected a breakdown of law and order in the State.
Addressing the media at the YSRCP Central Office, the two leaders alleged that the victim was stripped and assaulted by TDP leader Mallela Murthy and his associates. They claimed the government failed to act promptly and instead attempted to shield those allegedly involved.
Ambati Rambabu alleged that the incident had occurred three days before Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu publicly stated that he had become aware of it. He claimed the victim and her son were assaulted and that although they approached the police on the same day, no case was initially registered.
According to Rambabu, a case was registered only on July 16, but no arrests were made immediately. He alleged that action was taken only after CCTV footage of the incident surfaced and public criticism intensified, following which the Chief Minister, the local MLA and the police responded, and Mallela Murthy was suspended from the TDP.
He further alleged that the victim's family was shifted to a police station in the name of an inquiry after YSRCP leaders announced their intention to visit them. Rambabu claimed the government was attempting to suppress the incident and demanded the resignation of Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha, holding her responsible for the alleged failure to ensure women's safety.
Noori Fathima alleged that law and order had deteriorated under the leadership of Guntur MLA Galla Madhavi and accused ruling party leaders of misusing the police machinery. She questioned how such an incident could occur in Guntur, where the Andhra Pradesh State Women's Commission is headquartered, and demanded strict action against those responsible.
The ruling TDP has not publicly responded to the specific allegations made by the YSRCP leaders at the time of publication.
