Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced that Andhra Pradesh will become the first state in the country to introduce Monthly Economic Reports to monitor economic growth, strengthen governance and improve administrative performance through data-driven decision-making.
Addressing Ministers, Secretaries and Heads of Departments (HoDs) at the Secretariat, the Chief Minister said the initiative would enable the government to continuously track Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP), revenue collections and departmental performance, allowing timely corrective measures wherever required.
He said government departments must focus on improving citizen satisfaction through efficient service delivery and advised senior officials to undertake regular field visits to understand public issues firsthand and assess ground realities.
Emphasising transparent and outcome-oriented governance, Chandrababu Naidu said monthly reviews would also evaluate the performance and skills of government employees to improve administrative efficiency. He directed departments to minimise pendency under the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) and analyse whether changes in rules or legislation were required to permanently resolve recurring public grievances.
Referring to land-related issues inherited from the previous government, the Chief Minister said the Revenue Department was addressing long-pending disputes through the distribution of Pattadar Passbooks across the State. He noted that disputes in Shettipalli, Vatti Cherukuru, Kanggundi and Gutupalli had already been resolved, while another 72.7 lakh Pattadar Passbooks would be distributed in the coming months.
Highlighting the role of technology, the Chief Minister said Artificial Intelligence-based tools introduced by the government had improved governance and contributed to a 24 per cent increase in revenue collections across departments. He also noted that Andhra Pradesh recorded nearly 20 per cent growth over 2017 levels during the previous year, congratulating officials for their collective efforts.
Chandrababu Naidu cautioned that officers holding key responsibilities must adopt a positive and proactive approach towards governance. He stressed that governance driven by real-time data should produce real-time results and called upon senior officials to regularly visit the field instead of relying solely on office reports.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to consumer welfare, the Chief Minister said electricity tariffs had not been increased despite entering the third year of the government's tenure. He reiterated that the government would honour its commitment of not raising power tariffs for five years and noted that true-down adjustments had already reduced electricity charges for consumers.
He also said the government was preparing alternative strategies to minimise the impact of geopolitical developments in West Asia on the energy sector. Alongside promoting induction cooking, Andhra Pradesh would accelerate the expansion of solar power generation.
Stressing that innovation is essential for effective governance, Chandrababu Naidu highlighted irrigation initiatives such as the Pattiseema Lift Irrigation Scheme, which enables Godavari waters to reach the Krishna Delta. He said water conservation programmes across the State should be further strengthened through proactive planning.
On major infrastructure projects, the Chief Minister reaffirmed that the Polavaram Project would be completed and dedicated to the nation by March 2027. He announced that Godavari waters would be released to Anakapalli through the Polavaram Left Main Canal on August 14, while Phase-I of the Veligonda Project would be dedicated to the nation on September 1. Timelines for the remaining 36 priority irrigation projects would also be announced shortly.
Reviewing the government's two-year performance, Chandrababu Naidu said the administration had restored governance, welfare and development after systems had weakened between 2019 and 2024. He added that Andhra Pradesh has once again emerged as one of India's most preferred investment destinations, with the government conducting 19 State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) meetings and 57 Cabinet meetings, facilitating major investments and employment generation.
The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh aims to become both an agriculture-led and industrially advanced state by leveraging its natural resources. He highlighted Rayalaseema's potential in horticulture and minerals, stating that valuable resources such as rare earth minerals, silica and Chimakurthy granite would be developed through value addition.
Concluding his address, Chandrababu Naidu said Andhra Pradesh possesses the technology, knowledge and resources required for rapid growth. The key challenge, he said, lies in effective implementation. He announced that Monthly Economic Reports and regular reviews with Secretaries and Heads of Departments would henceforth guide governance and ensure faster execution of development programmes.
