Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to integrate electric vehicles into the Net-Zero initiative and replicate Nalagampalli's sustainable village model across Andhra Pradesh.

Kuppam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed officials to integrate electric vehicles into Andhra Pradesh's Net-Zero initiative and replicate the successful Nalagampalli model village across the State as part of a sustainable rural development strategy.
On the second day of his Kuppam tour, the Chief Minister visited households implementing the Net-Zero initiative and reviewed rooftop solar systems, induction cooktops, rainwater harvesting structures, kitchen composting units and terrace gardens. He instructed officials to document Nalagampalli's experience as a case study and use it as a model for expanding the programme across Kuppam and other parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Interacting with beneficiaries, Chandrababu Naidu enquired about the number of rooftop solar panels installed, electricity generation and whether the energy produced was sufficient to meet household requirements. Residents informed him that by using rooftop solar power along with induction cooktops, they were saving nearly Rs. 400 every month on electricity and cooking expenses.
The Chief Minister also inspected rainwater harvesting systems, composting units for household waste management, kitchen gardens and terrace gardens. Stressing the need for a comprehensive sustainability model, he said electric vehicles should also become an integral part of the Net-Zero initiative.
He directed officials to implement a circular economy model at the village level by promoting efficient resource utilisation, renewable energy, waste recycling and sustainable consumption. According to the Chief Minister, Nalagampalli's success can serve as a model for villages across Andhra Pradesh.
Chandrababu Naidu observed that modern induction cooktops support all forms of cooking while offering a safer and more energy-efficient alternative to conventional LPG-based cooking. He noted that the State Government has already distributed induction cooktops to Anganwadi centres across Andhra Pradesh.
Villagers informed the Chief Minister that induction cooking significantly reduces the risk of gas leak-related accidents while improving household safety and reducing fuel expenses.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the rooftop solar expansion programme in Kuppam is expected to benefit 7,489 Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families, 39,215 Backward Class families and 7,381 families belonging to other categories.
The Chief Minister directed officials to extend rooftop solar systems across Kuppam to reduce household electricity expenditure, promote clean energy adoption and contribute to environmental conservation. He said the government's objective is to build sustainable, energy-efficient villages that support both economic savings and climate resilience.
