YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy questions the reported recovery of ganja, liquor bottles and a police uniform from a police vehicle after an accident in Prakasam.

Tadepalli: YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has questioned the law-and-order situation in Andhra Pradesh following an accident involving a car reportedly carrying two Sub-Inspectors at Shankhavarappadu in Addanki mandal of Prakasam district.
In a post on X, Jagan said the reported recovery of ganja, liquor bottles and a police uniform from the vehicle had raised serious concerns. He questioned how a vehicle belonging to personnel responsible for preventing illegal transportation of drugs and liquor could allegedly contain such items.
Jagan said the car reportedly collided with an auto, leaving passengers injured. He alleged that the two police officials were in an intoxicated condition following the accident and questioned the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The former Chief Minister also alleged that local people who recorded videos of the incident and attempted to bring the facts to public attention were threatened.
He questioned whether recording an incident and seeking answers from authorities had become an offence.
Jagan alleged that another police officer who reached the spot warned people against recording videos and threatened them with cases. He said such actions raised questions about transparency and accountability in the police system.
Jagan further referred to unverified information alleging that the two police officials had organised private parties where liquor and ganja were used and that some TDP leaders had allegedly attended them.
He also referred to allegations that local TDP leaders helped the police personnel leave the accident site.
Jagan said these allegations required an impartial investigation and questioned whether people could have confidence in the neutrality of the police system if political leaders and law-enforcement personnel were allegedly working together.
Jagan accused the state government of using institutions for political purposes and urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to focus on law and order and police reforms.
He called for the incident to be investigated impartially and demanded action against anyone found responsible, regardless of their position or political affiliation.
He also appealed to the government not to suppress or divert attention from the incident and not to target people who recorded videos at the scene.
Jagan said the facts should be brought before the public through a transparent investigation and those responsible should face appropriate action.
