The Andhra Pradesh Special Security Group held its annual sports meet in Mangalagiri, with ADGP Mahesh Chandra Laddha highlighting the importance of sports for fitness, discipline and teamwork.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Special Security Group (SSG) of the Intelligence Department organised its annual sports meet with enthusiasm at the SSG Grounds in Mangalagiri, bringing together personnel from across the force to participate in a wide range of sporting events.
Additional Director General of Police (Intelligence) Mahesh Chandra Laddha attended the event as the chief guest. IG (PHD) D. Ramakrishna, SSG Director A. Jagadish, SP Chennupati Bhadrayya and other senior police officers were also present.
The annual sports meet featured competitions in 25 sporting disciplines aimed at encouraging physical fitness, discipline and camaraderie among SSG personnel. As part of the programme, Mahesh Chandra Laddha inaugurated the tug of war competition and interacted with participants.
Addressing the gathering, the ADGP said sports play a vital role in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and team spirit among police personnel. He noted that such events help improve coordination, build resilience and foster healthy competition, which are essential qualities for members of the security forces.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from personnel across various units, reflecting the department's emphasis on maintaining high standards of physical fitness and operational readiness.
Among the participants, S. Kamalendra Rao emerged as the overall champion of this year's annual sports meet by securing first place in six different events, earning appreciation from senior officers and colleagues.
The celebrations also featured cultural performances, creating a festive atmosphere and providing an opportunity for personnel and their families to come together beyond their professional responsibilities.
The Special Security Group expressed gratitude to the officials of Acharya Nagarjuna University, SHAP Chairman Ravi Naidu, and others who extended support for the successful conduct of the annual sports meet.
The department said such initiatives would continue to encourage physical excellence, strengthen teamwork and enhance the overall morale of SSG personnel while reinforcing the importance of fitness in policing.
