President of India Droupadi Murmu on Saturday reviewed the Passing Out Parade of the 158th Regular Course and the 141st Technical Graduate Course at the Indian Military Academy, congratulating the graduating officer cadets on successfully completing one of the country's most demanding military training programmes.
Addressing the newly commissioned officers, the President praised their dedication, discipline and commitment to serving the nation. She said that courage and wisdom would remain their greatest strengths as they embark on their military careers.
A key highlight of the ceremony was the presence of nine women cadets among the graduating batch. Describing their participation as a watershed moment in the history of the Indian Military Academy, President Murmu said it represented a significant step not only for India's armed forces but also for the nation's broader vision of women-led development. She expressed confidence that many more women would join the academy in the years ahead.
The President also extended her congratulations to cadets from friendly foreign nations who trained at the academy. She noted that their presence reflects India's commitment to strengthening friendship, cooperation and peaceful relations with countries across the world. According to her, the professional bonds formed during training play an important role in enhancing defence cooperation among nations.
Reminding the young officers of their responsibilities, President Murmu said they are entrusted with safeguarding India's sovereignty, unity and integrity. She urged them to place service above self and remain prepared for evolving security challenges and technological advancements.
Emphasising leadership, she said Army officers must lead by example, inspire confidence among their soldiers and uphold the finest traditions of the armed forces. By balancing operational excellence with the welfare of troops, she added, officers can build trust and strengthen the fighting capabilities of the units they command.
